Ministers’ Meeting on Reemploying Laid-off Sritex Workers: Key Discussion Points

A meeting of several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet was held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to discuss the situation of laid-off PT Sritex employees. The main agenda of the meeting was to address Prabowo’s directive for ministers to find solutions for the affected workers. Among the attendees were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.

During the meeting, Prasetyo emphasized the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the urgency of resolving the issues faced by PT Sritex since declaring bankruptcy in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new working scheme in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli commended the curator for their efforts in potentially rehiring former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.

Furthermore, Prabowo’s commitment to provide support and guidance is expected to bring relief to PT Sritex employees affected by the layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively protecting the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by ensuring they receive layoff compensation and other normative rights. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of selecting investors to manage Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, ultimately leading to the reemployment of the laid-off workers. This initiative aims to bring stability to the affected employees and provide a solution to their current predicament.
