Budi Arie Emerges in Online Gambling Case Involving Kemenkominfo Employees
The name of Budi Arie recently surfaced in the indictment of an online gambling case involving certain Kemenkominfo employees. According to the indictment of Zulkarnaen Apriliantony and his associates, Budi Arie allegedly received a 50 percent commission to secure gambling sites that were to be blocked by Kemenkominfo (now known as Komdigi).
Aside from Zulkarnaen, the defendants in this case include Kemenkominfo employee Adhi Kismanto, PT Djelas Tandatangan Bersama Director Alwin Jabarti Kiemas, and Muhrijan Alias Agus, who claimed to be a representative of the Kemenkominfo director.
Initially, Adhi and Muhrijan discussed the portion of the commission that Zulkarnaen would receive to protect online gambling sites from being blocked.
“Muhrijan offered a share of Rp3 million per online gambling website,” read the indictment as quoted on Sunday (May 18, 2025).
At first, Zulkarnaen objected, feeling that the commission offered was too low. However, he eventually agreed to the offer. Muhrijan then contacted a witness named Denden Imadudin Soleh to ensure that the site would not be blocked.
Discussions about safeguarding the gambling site continued at a meeting involving Zulkarnaen, Adhi, and Muhrijan at a café in Senopati, South Jakarta.
There, they agreed on a fee of Rp 8 million to secure each gambling site and also discussed the distribution of the commission. It was mentioned that Budi Arie would receive a 50 percent share of the total commission. “The second defendant, Adhi Kismanto, will receive 20 percent, the first defendant, Zulkarnaen Apriliantony, will receive 30 percent, and Budi Arie Setiadi will receive 50 percent of the total websites that are protected,” said the prosecutor.
