French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent visit to Indonesia underscored the deep and meaningful partnership between the two countries. Macron emphasized that the friendship between Indonesia and France goes beyond mere symbolism, representing a substantial and robust collaboration. During his visit, President Prabowo Subianto warmly received Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
Macron expressed gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He emphasized the significance of cooperation across various sectors such as the economy, technology, security, and culture.
Having maintained diplomatic ties for 75 years, Indonesia and France have seen remarkable progress over the past decade. Macron commended Indonesia for its role in fostering regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and acknowledged advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition initiatives.
Cultural cooperation was also a focal point for Macron during his visit, with a cultural agreement set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex symbolizing the growing friendship between the two nations. Macron expressed appreciation to President Prabowo for the gracious reception and expressed optimism for ongoing collaborative endeavors as part of his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
