President Prabowo Subianto is optimistic about Indonesia’s ability to achieve net-zero carbon emissions as scheduled, making it one of the pioneering countries to reach this environmental milestone. In a video conference focusing on the development of renewable energy and the expansion of oil production in East Java, Prabowo underscored Indonesia’s efficiency in energy generation and reducing logistical costs. He highlighted the significance of energy independence in the country’s vision for national sovereignty, unveiling plans for 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, aimed at providing clean, reliable, and efficient energy solutions throughout the archipelago.
The President commended the collaborative efforts of various ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies such as Medco Energi and ExxonMobil in supporting Indonesia’s energy transition. While acknowledging the abundant oil and gas reserves in the country, he stressed the importance of prioritizing renewable energy sources, particularly solar power, to ensure energy self-sufficiency for communities nationwide. Prabowo expressed hope for Indonesia’s future, highlighting solar energy as a beacon of progress for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands.
