President Prabowo Subianto has set an ambitious target to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG) to reach 82.9 million children throughout Indonesia by the end of 2025. This initiative has been highlighted as a national priority and an urgent matter during the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB), where Prabowo emotionally shared his experience during a recent visit to Central Java.
While traveling from Solo to Klaten, Prabowo recounted how schoolchildren and community members fervently requested nutritious meals. Touched by their plea, he immediately instructed his team to accelerate the program implementation with a goal of reaching 20 million children by mid-August. The ultimate target is to provide meals to 82.9 million children by December 2025.
Prabowo emphasized the importance of proper management of public funds and resources to ensure the success of the program. He also mentioned that this initiative is gaining global attention, with other nations closely watching Indonesia’s progress. Despite the bold ambition, Prabowo acknowledged the need for tangible results to match the optimism surrounding the Free Nutritious Meal Program.
The program is part of Prabowo’s broader vision to address child hunger, malnutrition, and educational disparities by ensuring that every child has access to the necessary nutrition for their growth and development. The initiative aims to bridge learning gaps and provide equal opportunities for all children, regardless of their background.
