Recruit Low-Income Communities for MBG Nutrition Program

National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is taking steps to recruit workers for the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) from among individuals in extreme and general poverty to promote local employment. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the National Nutrition Agency, revealed that at least 30% of the personnel in each SPPG will be selected from underprivileged households in line with the President’s directive to generate employment through the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. The aim is to support job absorption, especially for families in the lowest economic deciles. Currently, a total of 2,378 SPPG units have been established in collaboration with 6,076 local economic institutions serving as suppliers, such as cooperatives, village-owned enterprises (BUMDes/BUMDesma), and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The SPPG program involves 93,572 local community volunteers and has benefited 7,444,238 individuals nationwide. The beneficiaries include students from various education levels, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers, and students from People’s Schools (Sekolah Rakyat). To expand the program’s reach, BGN will launch 2,401 additional SPPG units in the next 10 days, aiming to serve approximately 15 million beneficiaries across the country.
