Prabowo Targets State Budget Efficiency, Cracks Down on Leakages

President Prabowo Subianto has made a commitment to lead Indonesia’s state budget towards a zero-deficit position, as he presented the 2026 State Budget Bill at the Parliament Complex in Senayan. The government plans to allocate Rp 3,786.5 trillion for state spending, with projected revenue of Rp 3,147.7 trillion, aiming for a fiscal deficit of Rp 638.8 trillion, equivalent to 2.48% of GDP. Prabowo expressed his determination to reduce the deficit through efficiency measures, with the ultimate goal of achieving a deficit-free budget in the future. He emphasized the importance of eliminating budgetary leakages and called for the support of all political forces in Indonesia. The president also highlighted the need for creative and sustainable financing to reduce reliance on the state budget, ensuring flexibility to withstand global shocks. Furthermore, Prabowo emphasized the enhancement of tax revenues, maintaining the investment climate, and providing targeted fiscal incentives to support strategic economic activities. He also emphasized efficient management of natural resources to enhance the welfare of the people.
