Ita, the chairperson of Persani, believes that the selection of Jakarta as the host city is a form of trust from FIG to Indonesia. This is also in line with the National Sports Development Master Plan in achieving “Indonesia Emas” by 2045. Ita is confident that the world championship in Jakarta will ignite the spirit of the younger generation towards gymnastics.
“Gymnastics as the mother of sports is proud to contribute, and we believe that the hosting of the World Championships can drive the development of gymnastics in Indonesia and inspire the younger generation to become elite athletes who strive for the excellence of the Red and White on the world stage,” said Ita.
Indonesia Arena itself was chosen because it is the newest sports venue in Indonesia with a capacity of up to 16,000 spectators. The construction of Indonesia Arena was initially for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
However, other indoor sports can also be held there. Last month, the Ministry of Youth and Sports successfully held a volleyball match between the South Korean club, Jung Kwan Jang Red Sparks, and the Indonesia All-Star team.
